Air Force joins Pink October

Yesterday morning, 30 October, the Air Force General Material Depot (DGMFA) in Alverca organised an initiative as part of Pink October, breast cancer awareness month, with an awareness-raising talk and a charity walk.

Military and civilian personnel from the DGMFA attended a lecture to raise awareness about early diagnosis of the disease, with the opportunity to hear the story of Major Luísa Carvalho, who overcame the disease.

At the end of the lecture, all participants received a pink ribbon, a symbol of awareness and the fight against breast cancer, which they wore on their chests. Afterwards, they took part in a walk along the footbridges next to the Air Force unit.

As a symbol of solidarity, the Air Force joined the Pink October initiative by promoting this awareness campaign among the military and civilian personnel serving in that unit, with the aim of supporting the prevention, early detection and fight against breast cancer.
