On 28 October, Air Base No. 5 in Monte Real formalised a partnership with the National Association of Social Gerontology (ANGES), giving rise to the Senior Squadron, a space dedicated to those who have served the country and continue to inspire those who serve it.
This multidisciplinary activity centre promotes active ageing, cognitive stimulation, physical maintenance and socialisation, integrating itself into the Wellness Vanguard Programme, a silent force that ensures that well-being always accompanies the mission.
A space designed for those who have served the country and continue to inspire those who serve it.
At the same ceremony, ANGES awarded Air Base No. 5 with the Flag of Social Merit, one of the highest honours awarded to organisations that excel in promoting well-being and human development.
The Unit Commander, Colonel Frutuoso da Silva, was also awarded the Gold Medal of Social Merit, a recognition that honours those who transform example into legacy and service into inspiration.
These distinctions and initiatives reflect the Air Force's commitment to proximity, humanity and social responsibility.
