On Wednesday, 26 November, the Unity Day Ceremony of Manoeuvre Aerodrome No. 3 (AM3) was held in Porto Santo, marking the 16th anniversary of that unit.
During the ceremony, the Commander of AM3, Colonel Carlos Fernandes, expressed his appreciation to the military and civilian personnel of that unit, reaffirming that "our priority is, and will continue to be, the full fulfilment of the mission entrusted to us. However, it is essential to recognise that the true foundation of our mission is people. It is because of you, your families, your commitment, courage and dedication that this Unit maintains its excellence."
The ceremony also included a heartfelt tribute to the deceased military personnel and civilian workers who served in the Unit.
AM3's mission is to ensure the readiness of aeronautical infrastructure, logistical and administrative support for units and agencies based or deployed there, as well as military security and immediate defence.
AM3 also has two permanent detachments that contribute to search and rescue missions and patient transport, which, since the beginning of 2025, have supported more than 245 people.
