Sqadron 504 – “Linces” today transported a newborn baby, born at 35 weeks’ gestation, who required specialised medical care.

A Falcon 50 aircraft was deployed for the mission, flying from Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel to Lisbon, safely transporting the baby to the mainland, accompanied by a specialist medical team.

The aircraft took off from Transit Aerodrome No. 1 (AT1) at Portela at 4.35 pm, bound for the Azores, and landed in Ponta Delgada at 6.40 pm.

With the newborn now on board, the aircraft took off again from Ponta Delgada at 7.00 pm, bound for Lisbon, where it landed at 9.00 pm.

In this way, once again, the “Linces” brought hope to those who needed it, successfully completing yet another mission in the skies, lasting around four hours of flight time.

The Air Force remains constantly ready to respond to missions supporting the public by providing patient transport, particularly when access to specialist medical care far from home is at stake, as these missions demonstrate.
